TWO DEEP DEPTH CHART

The football team participated in a scrimmage on Monday in the stadium that was open to all ND faculty and staff. Marketing Professor Bob Drevs attended the session and shared some of his observations and the two deep depth chart with us.

On offense, Brady Quinn looked very sharp. His passes were crisp, well thrown and on target. The extra time under the tutelage of Coach Weis and the aid of mentors Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, and Brett Favre have certainly paid off. The difference between Quinn and the backups was very noticeable. When Demetrius Jones enters the game, the entire offense changes to suit his ability to break out of the pocket and spread the defense. Munir Prince lives up to Weis' "Whoosh!" description and really got off the line quickly.

On the defensive side of the ball Travis Thomas looks undersized for a linebacker, but definitely has the speed to play the position. He still ran some plays on offense, but hopefully the switch to defense works as well as it did for Frank Stams. Tom Zbikowski is looking strong and quick. During special teams he broke free on a punt return and stopped short to exchange some words and smiles with Coach Weis.
